J.L. "Big Boy" Shults, 66, a railroad signalman died Wednesday, May 7, 1997. Funeral was held Saturday May 9, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth, with entombment in Greenwood Mausoleum.
Pallbearers were Bob Boyett, Bob Dickey, Billy Hall, Jerry Pointer, Craig Ray and Joe Rogoski.
J.L. was born May 24, 1930, in Pecos. After graduating from High school he was employed by the Texas and Pacific Railway. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and served two years in the Korean War. After his return, he continued his employment with the railroad.
He retired after 40 years service with the Texas and Pacific and Union Pacific railroads in 1994.
Mr. Shults was a member of the American Legion and an active member of Lakeside Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elma Shults of Saginaw; daughters and son-in-law, A.J. "Anita" Morgan, Pam and John Burrows and Donna Davis, all of Saginaw; granddaughters, Malissa Burrows, Chrystal Burrows, Amanda Morgan, Jessica Morgan and Magan Morgan; grandsons, Austin Davis and Tyler Davis; brother, Frankie Shults of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
