We have had seven grade crossing collisions on our Service Unit this year to date (this excludes the SP statistics). For the same time frame a year ago we had nine grade crossing collisions. Last year 33% these were during the day and 67% at night.

This year, 57% have been during the day with 43% happening at night. Another interesting comparison is the driver age, last year the age group 20-29 was 11% involved in collisions. This year 71% of that age group have been involved in collisions. The number of injuries is up one from two last year to three this year.

The Operation Lifesaver program is working well with its Highways or Dieways public service campaign.

Engineer Dennis Mitchell has been doing a lot of Operation Lifesaver presentations and has been arranging "Officer-on-a-Train" rides this year.

Engineer J.A. McClleland (Butch) of the former SP has been very active in the Dallas area. We are also working on the 'Near Hit' program.

Bob is a manager of operating practices at Fort Worth.
