White Eagle Gozolin

Many years ago the church I belong to wanted the attic cleaned out and the things they didn't need, hauled off.

At that time, I got this white milk glass Eagle. Over the next 30-years, I used it for Boy Scout ceremonies when they received their Eagle Scout. I had it pack away for several years and then Gloria found it. She thought it would make a nice lamp.

I made a table for it and fixed a light under it. Gloria was right, it did make a nice lamp.

One night, a friend of ours came by to see our house. She was from Greece and had such an accent that we could not understand some of her words.

She was looking around the house and spied the Eagle Lamp in the corner. She said, "Oh, Gloria. Do you know what you have there? You have a White Eagle Gozolin!"

Gloria and I thought that sounded like it was important glass -- White Eagle Gozolin glass. The next day, we wanted to find out more about the Gozolin glass. Gloria called our friend and asked her what kind of glass the eagle was.

She replied, "White Eagle Gozolin."

Gloria asked, "How do you spell it?"

She replied, "G-A-S-O-L-I-N-E -- gozolin."

Gloria said, "Gasoline! You mean gasoline?"

The lady replied, "Yes, Gloria, yes, gozolin, gozolin."

We found that we had the eagle that was on top of the White Eagle gasoline pumps from 1922 to 1924. It is a very collectible item worth $800 to $1200.
