UP CROSSROADS Editor,
By now, every railfan living within a 500-mile radius knows about Union Pacific's plans to bring their famous steam locomotive No. 844 to our city in October. It will be pulling a special excursion to Marlin, Texas.
I'm really excited at the prospects of seeing this great locomotive again, but I'm not exactly jumping for joy at the prospect of the Tower 55 Area being invaded by some of the railfans who will be behaving like total idiots.
When the UP No. 3985 came down from Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1995, many of us local fans were appalled at the behavior displayed by the ego maniacs who totally disregarded their own safety and respect for railroad authority in order to get that one "perfect camera shot."
I hope this time, when the 844 comes down, that these folks will use common sense, and show respect for authority by not going beyond boundaries to get a special picture. Please don't spoil your day or the day for someone else.
