Cody Williams Retires

Clarence D. "Cody" Williams, Second Trick Crest Yardmaster in Fort Worth, turned 62-years-old on June 1 of this year. He started his retirement on July 31. A party was given in his honor him at the end of his shift, in the Superintendents' Office at the Crest Building, where was presented with a watch. Cody was born and raised in Commanche, Texas. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. After his discharge in 1959, he went to work at Convair building the B-58. After about 18 months, he was laid off, and he went to work at the fire department. He wasn't happy with that, and quit after he got on extra at the Post Office. About the same time, he was able to also get on as an extra board mudhop on the Texas and Pacific Railway. He has 38 year railroad service, 24 of it as yardmaster. He has yardmaster at East Yard, the Bowl and the Crest. He spent his first 8 years as Bowl Second Trick Yardmaster. He has been Crest Second Trick Yardmaster for the last 9 years. After retirement, He plan to fish a little and "more or less take it as it comes." "I may travel a little bit and visit some of the people in Wisconsin I met while I was in the service," Cody says. Cody has one son, Cody Dean Williams, age 36. He is a program manager for Minyards.
