The Faultless Starch Library started in the early 1920s. A book 3" by 5" in an envelope was in every box of their laundry starch. There were 36 volumes, so this lasted about three years. It was one of the early give-aways to get people to try their product.
There was something in the books for all members of the family to read. There were children's stories in the front of the book. In the back were games, riddles, jokes and history.
A 11 1/2-ounce box of starch cost the outrageous price
of ten cents.
I have copies of all the 36 volumes of the books. At
the right and below is the front of one book and a page with
a Mother Goose type rhyme.
