Fra Asks Employees to
Support Safety Efforts

In a videotaped message to UP employees, Federal Railroad Administrator Jolene Molitoris asks employees to support efforts that will make Union Pacific "a safety model for the entire industry." "UP President Jerry Davis and I need your help. . .with your help, we can eliminate death and injury," said Molitoris, in Omaha yesterday for a press conference announcing the FRA's 14-day findings on UP's safety processes.

She said the FRA will be a "safety advocate" as it works with the railroad and labor to increase training, address crew fatigue and create "an atmosphere which rewards safety advocates. Jerry Davis is committed to this. If you raise a safety concern, you can expect approval, not ridicule or censure."

She encouraged employees to use the toll-free, President's Safety Hot Line:

to anonymously voice their safety concerns. Davis will personally review each call within 24 hours, then act accordingly.
