Corporations want all the privileges of citizenship, but seldom want to shoulder any of its responsibilities.
My cousin just retired from a telephone company. We were discussing how hard it was staying awake on the third trick. She said her employer used to furnish ammonia ampules (smelling salts) that employees could "pop" and sniff to stay alert.
I was about to to pass out in a doctor's office once years ago. He popped one of those thing under my nose and it nearly knocked my head off. I sure didn't feel nauseated or drowsy after that.

All we can say is, "Hooray! It's about time." We really appreciate the hard work that has been done by many people to bring this project to fruition.
Our only gripe has been that Uncle Pete didn't give it a higher priority. Santa Fe and CSX employees have been able to check their boards at home for some time I am told. Please see the Website article on Page 13.
I have been reviewing a book about the Santa Fe rebuilds of their old car body locomotives. Most of these were done in the Cleburne Shops down in the next county, starting in about 1970. Would you believe that the Santa Fe thought enough of their people that they air conditioned all of them? They even cobbled-up the first units from automotive air conditioning equipment.
A friend tells me that getting older has caused him to suffer from "C.R.S." He says it stands for "Can't Remember Stuff".

I think the common people of the world loved Princess Di because unlike most people with money and position, she obviously truly cared for those less fortunate than herself and tried to do something about it.

Ever wonder about those people who spend $2.00 a throw on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backwards. -- From the internet
Just heard on the television that Comedian Red Skelton has passed away. I think everybody loved Red. We looked forward to his weekly shows and hated to see him retire some years ago. He was truly funny. I'll always remember his "mean widdle kid" skit.

"...Corporatization has recently screwed up health care beyond imagination and, combined with de-regulation, has thoroughly fouled airlines and trucking and we are now experiencing the greatest fiasco of them all which is NAFTA.
"...In other words, it makes no difference if competent people are in the leadership except that stockholders will constantly be bleeding a corporation for profits based on today's 90 day dividend mentality and to hell with the future. ...The corporate world lost its credibility when the creed of greed was ushered in during the 1980's...."

A friend on another service unit says he has worked 29 years and had a clean record. He has never been charged with anything until recently when he was given a Level II under our UP-Grade "Justice System" for forgetting his earplugs and not saying "Over" on the radio once, when he asked where the conductor was before he made a move.
