Union Pacific's official employee website was launched September 9 on the Internet. The new password-protected site offers all employees with Internet access from home the ability to access train line-ups and crew board information, as well as UP Online.
The website address: http://employees.www.uprr.com http://employees.www.uprr.com
This password-protected site offers all employees with Internet access from home the ability to access train line-ups and crew board information, as well as UP Online. The train line-up/crew board application, called the WETBS system, can be used to obtain train line-up data for a particular board at a specific circ-7 and provide information on the current standing of a board.
After reaching the site's homepage, users will need their TCS mainframe USER ID and PASSWORD to access information. Novell or NT user passwords will not allow access.
To get your TCS USER ID/PASSWORD, call OSS, 8-271-5555, and use the automated system. Select option 1, then option 3 to access the automated system to retrieve your username / password information. If you don't think you have a mainframe username / password, talk to your department head.
Former Southern Pacific TE&Y employees will be issued mainframe usernames / passwords upon completing TCS training. The entire SP system is slated to complete TCS training by December.
Access to the Internet from home requires that you subscribe to an Internet provider. Because this is a secured website, users' home computers must support the most recent version of the popular Internet browsers, such as Netscape Communicator/Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. See the "help" page on the website for more information concerning browsers.
Other website features include Online Want Ads, the UP Video Catalog, the UPLINC Broadcast Schedule, Human Resources Nonagreement Policy Manual and an IdeaWorks presentation.
Future site offerings include a variety of departmental information and online newsletters.
