The holidays are behind us and 1988 is already rolling along into its second week. We folks in construction are having our share of delays with the wet weather.
The talk in Maintenance of Way right now is about the new seniority district boundaries, seniority rosters, on line and headquarters jobs. The wind of change is blowing again. I cannot remember his name at this time, but I do remember the words: "The only thing sure, is change."
After the dust settles, hopefully, thing will be simpler for all of us. As always, there will be people that are adversely affected and those who benefit. I have over 25 years seniority and never moved many numbers down the tentative roster.
Much work has been done in Centennial Yard in the past three months that is well appreciated and needed.
People in the Crest Building are happy about the noise reduction from the retarders, and those associated with the track saw thousands of badly needed tie replacements in the yard.
The next two months usually give us our worst weather and many safety hazards. Let's keep our safety guard up during the cold weather months.
By the way, Maintenance of Way people need to give themselves a Congratulations for another Excellent year in Safety.
Kids are back in school now. Watch those school Zones.
