Bill W. Splawn, 86, died Thursday, January 1, 1998 in Ennis. He was born September 19, 1912, in Reagor Springs and was a graduate of Bardwell High School.
He was a Locomotive Engineer and retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1981 after 40 years of service.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the First United Methodist Church.
Funeral service was held Sunday January 4 in Keever Chapel with Internment in Myrtle Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, of Ennis; a son, John Michael Splawn and his wife Rebecca, of the Woodlands; a sister, Nellie Hamic of Dallas; two grandsons, John and Ross Splawn; two nephews, Larry Cook of Ennis and Robert Hamic of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hallie Mae Roach Splawn on September 23, 1961.
