Miller Yard and Ennis have gone another month without an injury.
General Yardmaster J. D. Mitchell reports yard operations at max capacity. Miller continues its roll handling overflow from Centennial yard. Ennis continues very heavy. More tonnage is being forwarded to Miller from the north (MPSDA) for blocking and distribution in the D/FW area. The MDAPB is now rerouted to the MDANR going to North Little Rock instead of Pine Bluff.
The Longview Hub has seriously depleted the former SP D/FW manpower. In addition, the directional traffic from Longview to Houston and San Antonio running west and south via former SSW track Tyler to Corsicana and south to Hearne on the former SP Hearne Line, now has directional traffic running against the directional traffic from Houston to Ft. Worth. Maybe Omaha will figure that one and correct the problem.
Omaha continues to operate with its head in the sand. Our problems with operations are not out on the road. The" jams" are in the terminals. We have too many managers out harassing road crews while yards are plugged.
Cars are not able to be classified in a timely manner. We need to utilize our facilities, start switching anywhere we have tracks and yards. Stop this trying to do away with business as a solution.
Let's get on with the "We can handle it." We will handle it. Our attention should be focused on the problem and not a symptom of that problem.
I attended a meeting with CMS and Labor Relations last week. One thing that was in generally agreed, If roads crews moved over the road expeditiously and turned back out of the away from home terminal without HAHT, they would be at home more than away, AND, THEY WOULDN'T LAY OFF NEARLY AS MUCH.
Railroaders I know, love their jobs. Most of us never wanted to do anything else after they started railroading, when we use to railroad. Setting in a siding or outside a terminal waiting to hog, isn't railroading. It has destroyed our moral.
I read in the Diesel Shop Newsletter an absolutely amazing idea, We need a serious case of the
