ALL RIGHT!!!!!!!!! - We went through February without an incident and now through the end of February, we have 1 injury and that happened January 6, this means we have gone 53 days without an incident, everyone is to be commended for doing a great job in working and staying safe - keep it up - no one should be more proud of this than you - because you aren't hurt.
We had another Hazel day last Wednesday, the 25th, and we were able to clean 7 more tracks, making a total of 11 tracks we have cleaned, I know there are some more, but we are just going to need time.
While there was some improvement, there still needs to be more, there did not seem to be as many water bottles this time, I hope this is because you are using the trash cans and sacks, these things can cause problems, just remember, the next one you throw down might be the one that comes back to cause you or a good friend of yours a problem.
I have to also admit that I was disappointed, I thought that some of you might come out and join us, maybe the time will come.
After all, think about it, it is for your benefit, the Safety process is meant to help keep you safe, you are the one who works in these areas. Today, John Taylor and his people began unloading the rock in the Bowl, they got tracks 35 through 40 and are going to continue tomorrow, this is the rock to help the mud situation you talked about, it got here a little later than we anticipated, but it is here and being unloaded in the bowl, this is another way we are trying to help keep your working area safe.
ATTITUDE - Webster's Dictionary says this means " bodily position or posture; the bearing assumed by a person or body of persons indicative of feeling, opinion, etc.", unfortunately, we don't live and work in a perfect world and there are various things that can and does affect our attitudes, and the other thing is that sometimes our attitudes bleed over to others, such as our families, our co-workers, and other people who come in contact or involved with us.
If we have a bad attitude, then it can cause others to have a bad attitude, if we have a good attitude, then it can cause others to have a good attitude or at least help upgrade the attitude of people whose attitudes are not very good.
We have got to discipline ourselves, trying to keep ourselves as well as others in a good attitude. A lot of the time things we worry about and get a bad attitude over will eventually work itself out, then when it has, you look back and think about the good times you missed because you had gotten mad at the world.
I am not going to dwell on this, but I would like for each of you to think about it and discipline yourself to think positive about things, you will see that you will feel better, others will feel better, and your life will be better.
I also believe this is very important in helping to keep yourself safe and work with others to keep them safe. It is the upmost importance to keep yourself focused on what you are doing and what is going on, with a bad attitude, you cannot do this.
This railroad, our lively hood, is having a rough time right now, but if we work hard and keep a good attitude toward ourselves, others, and the railroad, I believe we will eventually work our way out of this trouble spot and be back on top again.
While I know and understand that some of you might not heed improving yours and others attitude, please do us a big favor - WORK and KEEP SAFE - for your family, your friends, others, but mostly for yourself.
