
Steve Plyler transferred to Fort Worth in January of this year as Director of Terminals.
He started his railroad career working for the Southern Pacific in 1977 on a section gang as an assistant machine operator. In 1979, he transferred into the operating department, as a Fireman. He was promoted to Locomotive Engineer in 1980.
"I worked as an Engineer between Del Rio and El Paso," Steve said.
"In 1988, I was promoted to Assistant Trainmaster at Herrington, Kansas. I made Trainmaster later that year and stayed for about two and one-half years.
"I spent the next two years as a Trainmaster in Salt Lake City.
"After that, I went to Houston, where I wore many hats," he said. "I was Road Foreman of Engines, Trainmaster at Strang, Trainmaster working the west end and central, Senior Trainmaster at Strang, and Terminal Superintendent at Englewood.
"After the UP bought the SP I was the Senior MTO at Englewood and then a Senior MTO in the command center at Spring.
Steve and his wife, Cathy, have three children, ages 16, 12 and 10-years. Their names are Jacquelyn, Jessica and Zachary.
"We are all looking forward to living in the Fort Worth area," Steve says.
"My hobbies are hunting, fishing, golfing, cooking, coaching my kids and spending time with my family.
"I am looking forward to meeting everyone at Fort Worth working with them. When you are at the Crest, my office is on the second floor across from the Command Center. Drop in and let's have a cup of coffee."
