February 23 -- STO Terry Shirley recognizes Locomotive Engineer Marcel Derrick for his outstanding contribution to keeping the railroad moving. Marcel was called to go north on the CHPJR Train. About that time we discovered that the Distributive Power on a northbound empty coal train at Bisbee on the old SP Track had become un-linked and we could find no one locally who knew how to re-link it. Luckily, Marcel hadn't departed yet, and we asked him to help us out. He agreed, and after we got him to Bisbee, he was able to re-link it in just a few minutes. His action saved us hours of delay it would have taken to switch the DP unit to the head end. Even if we had gotten the train to town, we might not have found someone who knew how to undo it all and link it back up.
