Another Month has come and gone without any personal injuries. Miller Yard continues accident free for over a year and the Dallas area for over one hundred twenty days. Congratulations!
On Saturday March 28, at 04:00 am the midnight shifts a Miller Yard had a homemade breakfast of Biscuits, Sausage, and Gravy. Over nine pounds of Sausage, plenty of biscuits, and a tub of gravy. Enough for seconds for all, plus leftovers for a few on day shift. Well, some guy named Haygood did have a hollow leg and singlehandedly ate enough for the whole shift. The only problem; a repeat is being demanded as we speak.
Miller continues its role handling overflow from Centennial. The ZMELB is now running daily thru Miller and on south to San Antonio. It is being filled to capacity at Miller.
Fort. Worth on the former SP is a different story. Business is not being run in accordance with the Interim Hub Agreement. CMS is not calling the correct crews for the correct trains. UP crews are handling SP Trains and SP crews are handling UP trains.
This is in direct conflict to the agreement to temporarily hub all the Fort. Worth business. SP crews are supposed to handle SP Trains and UP crews are to handle UP Trains.
Even though dispatching has been informed of this error, CMS continues to misuse crews and cost the UP thousands of dollars in claims which will a have to be paid. Again, this points out the main problem with our CMS. There is NO accountability!
If they were accountable to a someone, the Superintendent for instance, they would have to be responsible for all the extra crew cost.
With the mess in calling the correct crew at Fort Worth, someone should look at the system, no wonder we were so far over in 1997. Can you imagine what 1998 will look like.
Dan is an engineer working out of Miller - Broadway - Ney Yard.
