Raymond E. Sanders, 67, retired chief clerk for Southern Pacific Railroad, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in Rainbow.

Funeral was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose with burial in Squaw Creek Cemetery.

Raymond E. Sanders was born July 9, 1930, in Lindale. He moved to Rainbow in 1971. He married Nan West on Sept. 28, 1954, in Rainbow. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Glen Rose and retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after 46 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Earl J. Sanders; and a sister, Flora Riley.

Survivors: Wife, Nan Sanders of Rainbow; sons, Mike Sanders and his wife, Angela, and Pat Sanders and his wife, Terry, all of Rainbow; brother, Lee Sanders of Hurst; sisters, Julia McDaniel of Weatherford and Wanda Vaughn of Bridgeport; and grandchildren, Kevin, Jennifer, Brian, Nathan, Ryan, Kaylee, Matt and Dacia.
