Testing on the Union Pacific Railroad is required for monitoring employees knowledge, application and compliance with railroad rules, regulations and instructions. This is essential in order to maintain a safe and efficient railroad operation.
Testing is required for the following reasons:
From January through March on the Union Pacific Railroad 58,531 test were given. Of these, 981 resulted in Act 2's and 297 resulted in Up Grade. That is a 2% failure rate.
On the Fort Worth Service Unit for the same period, 1720 test were given 24 resulted in Act 2's and 5 resulted in Up Grade. That is only a 1% failure rate.
There have been 45 test given to foreign roads on our service unit so far this year. Of these, 9 resulted in Act 2's and 1 resulted in formal discipline. That is a 22% failure rate.
An Act 1 means that the crew passed the test.
An Act 2 means that the crew failed the test and it was discussed with the crew.
An Act 3 means that the crew failed the test and it resulted in UPGRADE.
