Employee Website Offers Train Line-Ups

Union Pacific's official employee website has been launched on the Internet. The new password-protected site offers all employees with Internet access from home the ability to access train line-ups and crew board information, UP Online and other online newsletters, the General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR) and the latest departmental information.

The website's train line-up/crew board application, called the WETBS system, can be used to obtain train line-up data for a particular board at a specific circ-7 and provide information on the current standing of a board.

Other website features include Online Want Ads, the UP Video Catalog, the UPLINC Broadcast Schedule, Human Resources Nonagreement Policy Manual and an IdeaWorks presentation. Future site offerings include UP's COED phonebook, CNet job listings, and possibly more TCS functions.

After reaching the site's homepage, users will need their TCS mainframe user ID and password to access information. When asked for your Username and Password, enter your TCS User ID and password. Your website user name and your TCS User ID are the same.

If you don't already have a TCS user ID/password, call OSS, 8-271-5555, and select option 1, then option 3 to access the automated system to retrieve your username / password information. If you don't think you have access to a mainframe username / password, talk to your department head. Novell or NT user passwords will not allow access.

SP employees cannot use the train line-up and crew board application until their region has been cut over to TCS.

Because this is a secured website, users' home computers must support the most recent version of the popular Internet browsers, such as Netscape Communicator/Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. See the website's "help" page for more information concerning browsers.

What won't work? America Online browsers working on Windows 3.1 operating systems or Macintosh operating systems; and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02 or 3.03 for Windows 3.1 operating systems.

PLEASE NOTE: the "www" comes after "employees" in the website address. This is a bit different than some of the addresses you may have used in the past, which traditionally have the "www" right after the "http://". The website address must be typed exactly as it appears above in the browser's location field to access the site.
