Our oldest son, Jon, who has been working in Maintenance of Way for the past three years, has embarked on a new career. Beginning Monday of this week, he is in Dalhart in training for Train and Engine service.
Project News: In South Ney we built rock pads for the signal and signal cabinets for the Signal Gangs under the direction of Bob Dickey, . Signal Foreman Ron Nash and his gang are doing the new installations.
The Mesquite Intermodal Facility is moving along even with its daily surprises.
Our foreman doing the flagging there, Robert Koci and his wife now have a newborn girl. She is their first child, born on May 6, 1998. Congratulations to the new parents.
This week at Big Mackie in Arlington, we installed a track panel and concrete road crossing on Timberlake Street. Whew! Hopefully, today we place the East Switch at its location, thanks to Danny Fletcher, Foreman John Dora Jr and gang from Ennis, BOP Gang and welders from Ennis and Dallas.
Did somebody say, "Vacation...? I'm ready.
We all need to be mindful that in the next couple of weeks, school will be out and kids will be in all the places we are accustomed to seeing vacant.
