I. When condusting a transfer train or yard train brake test, how much air are we required to have on the rear car before the brakes are applied?
A. A suffecient amount to apply the brakes on the rear car with a 20 lb. reduction.
B. 60 lbs.
C. Within 15 lbs of the regulating valve setting.
II. We are working south out of Ft. Worth on the Central Texas Service Unit and we are securing our engines to be left unattended. In what position do we leave the automatic brake?
A. Make a 20 lb. reduction and leave cut in.
B. Make a 20 lb. reduction and cut the brake out.
C. Leave it in the released position and cut in.
III. We are moving in block signal territory and our next signal comes into view. It is a yellow over yellow. What is the name of this signal?
A. Approach Medium.
B. Approach Diverging.
C. Advanced Approach.
IV. Refering to the previous signal, what is the indication of this signal?
A. Proceed, speed passing next signal must not exceed 30 MPH.
B. Proceed prepare to advance on diverging route at next signal at prescribed speed through turnout.
C. Proceed, speed passing next signal must not exceed 40 MPH.
V. Later on we encounter a flashing yellow signal. What is the name of this signal?
A. Approach Medium.
B. Approach Limited.
C. Advance Approach.
VI. We are on a freight train and we have passed an Approach signal. We have reduced to 30 MPH and are prepared to stop at the next signal. When we come around the corner the next signal is seen to be Clear. Are we still required to move prepared to stop at that signal?
VII. Refering to the previous question, when can we return to maximum speed?
A. As soon as we know the track is clear to the signal.
B. When the rear of our train passes the signal.
C. When our leading wheels pass the Clear signal.
