Bridge over the Trinity River
TxDOT is proposing to extend Woodall
Rodgers Freeway over the Trinity River connecting with Singleton Blvd. and Beckley Ave. on
the west side of the river. The City of Dallas has commissioned world renowned Architect
and Engineer Santiago Calatrava to design a Signature bridge for the Trinity
River crossing. Our December Program speakers will discuss civil and structural challenges
as well as right-of-way acquisition and the potential for economic redevelopment in the
area. Speakers: Rebecca Dugger, P.E., Director,
Trinity River Corridor Project, City of Dallas, Lawrence R. (Larry) Beenken, P.E.,
Associate, Chiang, Patel & Yerby, Inc., and Charlie Quade, P.E., Vice President,
Huitt-Zollars, Inc. Ms. Dugger is a native Texan, born and raised
in Terrell, Texas. Ms. Dugger moved to Dallas shortly after earning her Bachelor of
Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University (class of 83), and
began her career as an Engineer Assistant with the City of Dallas Water Utilities
Department at the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in 1984. Rebecca worked for the Water
Utilities Department for 15 years, and eventually held the position of Assistant Director
of Wastewater Operations. She was appointed to her current position as Director of the
Trinity River Corridor Project in August of 1999. Rebecca is a Licensed Professional
Engineer in the State of Texas. Mr. Beenken has been a consulting engineer
for over 30 years. He began his career in Iowa and moved to the Dallas area in 1981. He
considers himself very fortunate to have been associated with many notable projects in the
Dallas area. Among them the N1 section of the Reconstruction of North Central Expressway,
the construction of the CBD portion of DARTs light rail starter system, the
construction of the APM (Skylink) Project at DFW Airport, the construction of the downtown
portion of Houston METROs light rail starter system, and now the Calatrava Bridges.
He received a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University. He is
a Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas. Mr. Quade has
been a consulting engineer for almost 20 years. He received a Bachelors of Science in
Civil Engineering in December 1984 and a Master of Science, Structural Engineering in May
1988, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He began his career with the
TxDOT Bridge Division where he worked for 5 years. He has been with Huitt-Zollars, Inc. in
the Dallas office since 1992. He has worked on various transportation projects throughout
North Texas including TxDOT, NTTA, DART and D/FW Airport. He is a Licensed Professional
