Program:  Planning for Explosive Growth—The Frisco Story
The City of Frisco has experienced explosive growth over the last decade.  Without good planning, such growth can have negative effects on a city.   Frisco has been widely recognized, as a successful example of good planning and development, however, and it does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon.  As the director of its city planning efforts for the past several years, February’s speaker has obviously played a prominent role in Frisco’s growth.  He will discuss how the City has managed its development from a planning perspective, and he will offer some insight about what may yet lie ahead for this North Texas boomtown.

Speaker: Mr. John Lettelleir, AICP, City of Frisco Director of Planning & Development Services
Mr. Lettelleir has served as Frisco’s Director of Planning & Development Services since July 2002, and prior to that point he had held the title of Director of Planning since September 1998.  Before moving to Frisco, Mr. Lettelleir spent a decade in Plano’s Department of Development Services, and he began his planning career with the City of Grand Prairie in 1986.

After graduating from Indiana State University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in Urban Regional Studies, Mr. Lettelleir completed a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1986.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the American Planning Association, and the Urban Land Institute.  Mr. Lettelleir was honored in 2002 by Inside Collin County Business as one of its “21 Leaders for the 21st Century.”
