What Every Engineer Should Know about the New Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination
System (TPDES) Construction Permit
Requirements All construction projects greater than 1 acre need to acquire a TPDES Construction Permit prior to beginning construction. A Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) must be developed and implemented prior to applying for the permit. This presentation will give you an overview on the TPDES permit requirements, what to include and what to avoid in preparing a SWPPP, and examples of good and bad Best Management Practices (BMPs) at construction sites. Also included will be an overview on Dallas Storm Water Managements monitoring program for construction activities, including education and enforcement inspections, based on its EPA National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit requirements.
