The 2000 Bosque del Apache campout was held at the
Bosque Wildlife Refuge near San Antonio, New Mexico,
on November 17-19.
Almost 100 Scouts, Weblos, grannies and parents attended the Bosque Del Apache
campout. We had a great time, once again, thanks to the hard work of Campmaster
Caleb K. and Grannie Assistant Stan Mortimer!
The highlights of the campout were a tour of the
Very Large Array of radio telescopes on the Plains of San Augustine and
the New Mexico Tech EMRTC Explosives Research facility.
We also had a great pit barbeque of prime rib and turkey on Saturday night.
Here's a photo gallery of some of the highlights of the camp! Click on

A demonstration explosion of 50 pounds of ammonium nitrate explosives,
triggered by a long string of detonation cord (the fine line leading up the
photo to the larger dust cloud). |
Within a second, the dust cloud grows and we were hit by the concussion
of the explosion, even though we were 3000 feet away. |
