Troop 285 Congratulates our 2000 Graduates

Troop 285 is proud to have eight members graduating from High Schools in May, 2000. Here's a brief bio of six of them:

Shaun B.

Shaun attended Sandia HS, achieving a GPA of 2.5. He lettered in Golf and Swimming (Diving). He has an offer to play college golf at Central College in Iowa, and has been accepted to the Professional Golf Menagement program at NM State.

Olie C.

Olie attended La Cueva HS, taking Honors and Advanced Placement courses each year. He earned a 4.16 GPA, and academic letter, and ranks 36th in his graduating class. He lettered in Cross Country, Wrestling and Track (Pole Vaulting). As a member of the Marine Junior ROTC company, he became Platoon Commander and Executive Officer. He also belonged to the National Honor Society and the Ski and Snowboard Club. He received nominations to the Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy, has accepted the latter, and will start at Colorado Springs in June.

Andrew C.

Andrew attended La Cueva HS, and earned a 4.29 GPA. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Junior Engineering Technical Society, and competed on Academic Decathalon and Science Bowl teams. He has been accepted at the University of California at Berkeley, with National Merit and Regent Chancellor's scholarships. He plans to major in Computer Science and Engineering.

Chris H.

Chris attended Eldorado HS, earning a 3.7 GPA. He was a lettering Swim team member for two years and captain as a Senior. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society, earning Honor Chords in each. He earned an academic letter and bar, and was a state award winning cartoonist for the school paper. He has worked at the High Point Sports and Wellness gym for over a year. He plans to attend UNM to start college, then transfer to an art school to study graphic design.

Jordan S.

Jordan attended La Cueva HS, earning a 3.5 GPA. He was a lettering Band member for three years, playing in the Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. He lettered all 4 years in Wrestling, and advanced into national competition as a Senior. After a vacation in Hawaii he plans to attend the University of Denver, with a Faculty Scholarship.

Matt T.

Matt attended Eldorado HS, earning a 3.97 GPA. He was a lettering Band member for four years, and lettered in Football twice, as well as participating in Track and Field. He received an academic letter and bar. He will be attending the University of New Mexico, taking pre-medicine, on a Presidential Scholarship.

The troop's deepest congratulations go to all six, plus Tim B. and Greg S., who couldn't be at the celebration!
