Klondike 1999 Camp - Mount Taylor, Grants, NM

The 1999 Troop 285 Klondike camp was held on Mount Taylor, north of Grants, New Mexico, on January 15-17, 1999. Although there wasn't a lot of snow, there was a great deal of fun to be had at this campout! Tim B. was the camp master, and Rick Mondick was the Grannie assistant.

Weather at Klondike was very nice for January - the days warmed to at least 50 degrees F, and the nights were about 25 degrees. Snow was found, but you had to look for it under the bushes.

Several competitions were held. Foremost among them were the snow sculpture, won by Staff, and a coconut cream pie eating contest, also won by Staff. Thanks go to Marie Calendar's restaurant for donating the pies! Other contests included Tent Pitching; winners will be published soon.
