LT99 was held in the West Side Primitive Camping Area (see the linked map). This is a secluded, low traffic, and primitive campsite. It has a good (dirt) boat launching beach, lots of shade under the pinon and juniper trees, and is large enough to hold our camp very easily.

An especially hands-on class is the Map and Compass work, which concludes with a five mile hike on which the Scouts perform might naigational feats with their topographic maps and compasses. A contest for distance measurement by pacing was won by Matt R., who over a course of about 750 yards, held an accuracy of better than 99%! The compass bearing test was won in a four-way tie, with Jay M., Daniel K., Kyle B., and John F. all achieving an accuracy of bearing reading within 1 degree to the actual bearing! Congratulations, gentlemen!
