The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, NM, served as the
home base for a high-technology weekend for Troop 285. The places visited included:
The Very Large Array of radio telescopes
The Waldo-Graphic lead-zinc-silver underground mine (now a teaching facility)
The NMT Astronomy Observatory (for a really close look at Comet Hale-Bopp)
The EMRTC Energetic Materials Research Facility - over 100,000 acres of laboratories surrounding M Mountain
The NM Bureau of Minesand Mineral Resources Mineral Museum
Tons of basketball and other sports in the NMT gymnasium (our bunk house, too)
