Here you will find photos of various interesting record labels and other items from my collection.  This section is by no means intended to be comprehensive.  Rather, its purpose is to introduce you  to the hobby and allow you to view some of the items in my collection that I  think you might find interesting.  For a more comprehensive look  at  78rpm  record  labels, I suggest visiting the

This is an Edison Diamond Disc record.  It is so called because, rather than using the steel needles required to play most disc records of the day, Edison's discs required a diamond stylus.  These records were about a half inch thick.  Like the early cylinder records, diamond discs were recorded in the "hill and dale" method, meaning the indentations in the grooves went up and down.  Most other companies used the vertical method where the needle zig zagged back and forth in the groove.  Diamond Discs had excellent sound quality and were considered a premium product. A major drawback however was that one could not play them  on rival gramophones, such as the Victrola, which had a larger market share.  This record is from the mid-1920s
