FREE GAS FORGE PLANS

GAS FORGE PHOTOS

Forge Plan 1 is now available as a 40k gif file (see below). Plan 2, from Donnie Fulwood, is currently only available as a pdf file. The pdf forge plans are designed for viewing and printing with Adobe Acrobat. A free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader is available from Adobe, and Acrobat Reader can then be configured in your browser.

Recommended reading is Gas Burners for Forges, Furnaces and Kilns by Michael Porter. Read a Review of this fine book including purchasing info. Also see Building the Gas Forge and Foundry by Kern. It's available from Norm Larson Books 1-800-743-4766 (evenings). For reviews of books including Blacksmithing, see the Reviewers Consortium site.

Currently there are two plans for gas pipe forges. Plan 1 is easiest, Plan 2 is more complex. For an excellent photo of Plan 1 see Larry Zoellers site. Larry has reached forge welding capability with his forge. Materials for insulation may be purchased from Jay Hayes, (see his ad for details). For questions of detailed operation of the forges you should consult a knowledgeable Blacksmith.
