North Texas Blacksmiths Association is an ABANA chapter formed to help spread the knowledge of the blacksmithing craft. The organization is located in the North Central Texas area, although people from all areas are welcomed to join. Membership fee is $15. NTBA gladly accepts invitations to demonstrate the craft of blacksmithing at public events. To schedule a demo contact NTBA.

July 11 - William Stoddard, 2348 Countryside Drive, Denton, Texas 76208, 940-435-1684, wstoddard@gmail.com , http://picasaweb.google.com/wstoddard/BLACKSMITHING# . Bill's place is on the east side of Denton, about 2 miles east of the US 380 and loop 288 intersection, just west of the 380 Greenbelt Business Park.
Directions - on Hwy 380 on the east side of Denton, turn north on North Trinity Road, left (west) on Fishtrap Road, then right, (north) on Countryside Drive. The studio is at the north end of Countryside Drive. Look for the log home and Texas sized barbed wire. Lunch will be provided. Bring safety glasses, hearing protection and chairs. Demo of a large twist starts at 9:30 till BBQ lunch and demo/open forge to follow in the afternoon-evening. We have camping and RV hookups onsite, adjoining the 1000 acre wildlife preserve, hiking trails and fishing in the Elm Fork Branch of the Trinity River. Y'all come early, stay awhile!

August 8 - Plano Heritage Farmstead Museum, Plano.

September 12 - Hammerfest 2009, at Bridgeport with Jim Pepperl from Silver City New Mexico. Maps to Hammerfest - Map 1, Map 2, Map 3.

October 10 - Anvil Repair Workshop Part 2, Frank Shelton & Bill Meines Shop, Princeton. This is a follow up meeting to the April anvil repair workshop. Directions: From Hwy 75/ Central Expwy. in McKinney, exit at Hwy. 380. Travel east on Hwy 380 about 8 miles to Princeton. In Princeton, the shop is just to the east of the 4th Street stop sign on Hwy 380, turn north into the drive next to the C. W. Smith Funeral Home (on the east side of the Funeral Home) and drive a short distance to the shop. See Map at http://home.flash.net/~dwwilson/ntba/Map-to-Frank-&-Bills-Shop.jpg. This workshop will be for members to bring their own anvil(s) to repair themselves, but with assistance of experienced repair people. An anvil with damage such as minor chips on the face or other major face and horn damage is a good project to bring. This is anvil repair at your own risk.

November 14 - Edgewood Christmas Bazaar

For any information about NTBA please email us at dwwilson@flash.net. NTBA has meetings on the second Saturday of each month, (with occasional exceptions). Monthly meetings are located at members shops and other locations such as farm museums in the North central Texas area. Meeting topics and directions are in the club newsletter. Hours are normally from 9 am until 3 pm, however, multi-day events such as Hammerfest and Dancing Hammers are weekdays 9 am - 5 pm and Sunday 9 am - noon. Demos are given by club members and guests, and newcomers are invited to participate.
