Beginning Blacksmithing Course

Cost $125.00
This one day class will provide a basic understanding of forging principles, from building and controlling the fire to heating/forging steel, tool selection and use. Expect an introduction to tools, forge construction, starting and working the fire, and using the forge. Learn general techniques such as upsetting, drawing out, splitting, and simple scroll. Everything from standing properly to holding the hammer the right way will be addressed. All tools and materials are furnished. Students will take home finished projects. Note: Beginning Blacksmith course is a prerequisite.
Beginning Knifemaking Course

Cost $125.00
Using the hand-cranked blower, coal forge and anvil this knifemaking class will include general techniques such as design, forging, heat treating and finishing for the beginner. Students with even a little blacksmith experience will enjoy creating their own knife design in this one day class. All tools and materials furnished. Note: Beginning Blacksmith course is a prerequisite
Blacksmithing, the cornerstone of all crafts for centuries, has come back to life. Once rendered nearly obsolete by the Industrial Revolution and 20th Century technology, this ancient craft has undergone a contemporary renaissance.
