Today's Question:
"What is the Christian remedy for
abortion on demand?
The Answer: Compliments of Michigan Christians for Life
On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court in Roe v Wade, ruled that a developing baby in the womb was a "potential" person and therefore had no right to life as did those who preceeded them. Therefore any developing baby in the womb could be aborted up to their ninth month of life in the womb. Since then, the birth rate in America has been declining.
There have been over 46 million abortions since Roe v Wade and the population is declining. The reason why the population appears to be growing is because people are living longer. When you project the population growth based on current rates along with the aged population the truth is revealed. All of this will affect the job market. This will create problems with Social Security Benefits for those born before 1973. Let me explain.
There once was a time when four workers supported one retired person. Today that rate is almost one for one. America is now "importing" workers. With the 46 million deaths and the average yearly rate of one million, five hundred thousand, it should come as no suprise that many jobs in America are going begging for help. People to work these jobs are being imported from other countries.
My question is this. How did we get to this point where one abortion is performed every 20 seconds, 3 every minute, 180 every hour and over 4,300 in one day with no end in sight? The truth of the matter is that people have turned away from serving God to serving themself.
We are living at the end of Christendom. Not at the end of Christianity. What is Christendom? Christendom is the political, economical, moral, social and legal life based on the Gospel ethic. That is finished. Corruption in Government, dishonesty, redefining the family, giving license to immorality and greed are some of the fruits of it. The legalization of abortion was its fuel. Like other sins, first it was tolerated, then it was taken for granted, and finally it was given a legal status by the highest court in the land.
There was a time when a developing baby was protected in the womb. The Bible tells us developing babies had rights before birth. (See Exodus 21:22-25) In America a developing baby had protection under the Bill of Rights up to January 22, 1973. Today the most dangerous place to live today is not in the slums but in the womb.
When our laws were based on Christian ethics, the baby in the womb was entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Today that right is now denied because a pregnant woman is now viewed as being a victim who has a "choice" in deciding if the baby lives or dies. The woman, in fact, is a victim by the law.
Many women, after having an abortion, discover that the "glob of tissue" that the abortionist said occupied her womb was in fact a real person. Many will turn to drugs, alcohol and degrading life styles to "help ease the pain." These people are hurting and need our support. We should never pass judgment on someone who had an abortion. If it were not for the Grace of God, there we would go.
The answer to this assault on human life is a person. That person is Jesus Christ. Jesus said this about life. "The thief (the devil) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am (Jesus) come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)
