Notes to Sportsmen:

Your job in Preparing Trophies for the Taxidermist:

Freezing is one of the best methods of saving all trophies...but only if the trophies are properly wrapped before freezing.
    • Deer heads and hides - wrap them in burlap sack or brown paper bag, then seal tightly in large plastic bag. Freeze solid. Once frozen, resist temptation to drag it out and show to friends.
     • Small game and varmits - Do not gut unless the weather is extremely hot and a freezer or cooler is not readily available. Wrap in a brown paper bag, then seal tightly in a large plastic bag. Freeze solid.
     • Birds - Do not gut under any circumstances before consulting your taxidermist. Wrap in dry rags to absorb any blood that may appear before freezing. Next, wrap in newspaper to protect long tail and wing feathers. Seal in large plastic bag. Freeze solid.
     • Fish - Do not gut under any circumstance before consulting your taxidermist. Wrap fish in wet rags, saturate with water, seal in plastic bag. Freeze solid.
And Don't Forget To...Shoot 'em Gently!
