Model #101 (Conics)

This model may be varied in shape from a cylinder through an hyperbola of 1 sheet to that of 2 cones, and may be locked in any intermediate position. Light from an overhead projector passes through the projection slit, creating a plane of light which intersects the strings. Since the model's configuration may be varied, and the projection slit may be  rotated and moved about on the overhead, just about all types of conics and degenerate conics may be viewed. In the photos shown, the overhead projector is to the side of the model, forming a right angle between the projector, the model, and the viewer.
