Mouse-A-Ratti speedsters !!!!! Bettye Cook, Educator at the Leyland Museum in Cleburne, Texas assists a team of young scientists on their mousetrap car projects.  Over 20 kids attended the fun project teaching them several interesting lessons on simple machines, kinetic and potential energy, friction and more.  The exciting part was that the kids had a chance to race the cars and then take them home !

Mel McDaniel alias "The Moustrap Man" ........ seen  standing with some of the mousetrap car race winners at the Leyland Museum.  Each child received several tips from Mel in the building process and as usual the place was abuzz with questions and excitement.  Mel uses part of his unique "Wow" mousetrap powered gadget collection to get budding young scientists interested in science.  One hundred and ten thousand kids (and counting) can't be wrong !

  Mouse Trap Fireworks® 

Mouse Trap Fireworks® (MTF) was started by a Cleburne, Texas businessman and is already spreading fast to other parts of the country.    What exactly is MTF ?  First and foremost MTF does not involve real fireworks.   It is very much like domino falls, except that one would use loaded mouse traps instead.   Basically each mouse trap is fitted with 2 clothes-pins in a rather unique way. You then load the mouse traps and position them.  When lines of MTF are triggered it sounds just like fireworks going off.  Setting up MTF requires steady hands, focus, a sense of adventure and a good sense of humor. Over 400 of our youngest league members are 4th and 6th graders !

Several world records have already been set and AMFA (American Mousetrap Fireworks Association) was established to coordinate and monitor the progress of this new and rapidly growing fun activity.  All this information is also included in the one-of-a-kind book Mousetrap Science is Fun.
