MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR APRIL-MAY 1997
Dear Friends,
Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the Gospel, disciple all nations.
The church has a tremendous job because the world is hostile to the wonderful message of the Gospel. We must be willing to suffer! Aren’t you glad that Jesus was willing to suffer?
ATLANTA BRAVES GAME – While visiting Elizabeth's sister and brother-in-law in Atlanta, they treated us to a baseball game at the new stadium for the Braves. Thousands attend these games. You can sense the excitement the minute you approach the area. I went to the top of some stairs and began talking about Jesus. I was surprised at how many people began clapping. I thought I was in a good church service for a minute. Later while walking around, I went into what I call Psycho Drama Evangelism. Here’s how it works – you get in line (I was in the Men’s Room) and begin talking to yourself.
“Man, I’ve got problems. I need help. I’ve lost my job, am on drugs. My wife has left me, what can I do?”
That gets people’s attention! They turn and look right at you thinking, “Oh, my, he’s loosing his mind.” Then you answer back in another voice.
“Friend, I used to be just like that until Jesus came into my life.”
“Jesus did what?”
“Well, I confessed I was a sinner and Jesus forgave me and came into my heart.”
“What are you talking about? You know Jesus Christ?”
I have had so much success in getting out the Gospel in this manner. Sometimes, people even ask me to do another one. I am telling their stories. It always ends with the first personality on his knees accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior! One man came up and gave me the thumbs up and said, “Brilliant, I’m going to start doing that.” So, next time you find yourself in line at the store, go for it!
PHILIPPINES – While in the Philippines earlier this year, I was moved when I saw 150 children in our school. We are turning away children every week because our current facilities are too crowded. I asked the owner of the house we rent (where the missionaries live) if she would donate her property so we could enlarge the school. She conveniently directed me to a cousin of hers who is a business man. After a conversation with him, he agreed to donate 11,000 square feet of property that is just two blocks from our current building. One of his conditions was that we match the value of the land in building construction. The land is worth $200,000.00! With that much for building, we could have a school big enough for 300 students, plus a house for the pastor/principal, Conrad Lagazo, and his family, plus a community court for our Bible Club, crusades, medical clinic, etc.
Craig Logan has designed a fund raising strategy called the GOLD MINE. This is truly a gold mine of opportunity for us there. We need 500 people to commit $400.00 each to this project. We already have about one fourth of this committed! God is good! We only need 375 more people. It can be done on a monthly basis, $40.00 a month for ten months. We have a three-part goal for the children of the Philippines: (1) Evangelize their hearts with the Gospel of Jesus Christ; (2) Educate their minds; and (3) Teach a vocation for their hands that will provide an income for them. We need your help. If you would like to invest in God’s Gold Mine in the Philippines, just designate your gifts to ASEA’s GOLD MINE. And, thank you!
WE WERE BLESSED to be able to minister with Roy and Carolyn Smith and their prison ministry in Illinois. Craig and I took turns buckin’ and snortin’ for Jesus. I even got to do a few cartwheels. I mean we got down and had church! It was encouraging to see so many of these men respond to the Good News. God is good!
BOB AND COZETTE THOMAS are fighting the good fight of faith in London while we are out of the country. People who know them often seem surprised to hear Dr. Bob is out preaching on the streets there. He was born for it and does a tremendous job! It surely is a blessing to have folks like them to work with. Did I say that God is good'?

MANY THANKS to all of you that have blessed us so abundantly these last seven weeks. We have had so many great times of fellowship. You have really made us feel loved. This was a really fast and busy trip for us. We were in 21 churches or meetings in seven weeks. Abigail had to adjust to 19 new surroundings and beds. She did pretty well. We are ready to go back and tackle the devil in London next week. Thanks for your prayers. I can’t help it, I’ve just got to say it again, GOD IS GOOD!
With love and appreciation,
The Wood Family
