Dear Friends,
As the end of the year approaches, we must look back and marvel at all God has done in
1996. We are so grateful for all of you who have been a such an important part of our work
here in London and The Philippines. God has done great things! In just this past year, ASEA
London has acquired a building right in the center of the city to become the new 'London Outreach
Center". ASEA Philippines has expanded their existing building to make almost double the
space for the Christian school and other ministries. These are MAJOR accomplishments!

Your prayers are very important to us, so please don't stop. We ask you to especially pray for those we are able to minister to here in the London Outreach Center. We'd like to introduce you to a few of them:
Mary is 86 years old. She is quite spunky. Recently she was mugged by four teenage girls. It happened just a few blocks from the Center. Mary was on her way home from Bingo.
Cathy is 39 years old. She is from Zimbabwe. She has a nine month old baby here and two older children back in Zimbabwe. She moved here with her husband in February. Cathy doesn't like London. She is lonely, sad and homesick. She said she has no friends here and no one seems to want to be her friend.
George is an elderly man. He never married, saying that he didn't want to bring anyone else into his misery. He told us he had been drinking in the pub we now occupy for the last twenty years. He couldn't imagine how much money he had spent there. His face was bright red and there was a healing wound on his forehead from where he had fallen while drunk.
Esther is in her early 30s. She is talkative about her life. There are scars on her face as a result of ten years of being beaten by her husband. She finally left him four years ago and is eager to help others who are being abused. Esther is Catholic by profession, but really has no knowledge of God and His Word, not yet. She is excited about having the center open, saying that there was no where in that area for people to go for help before we came.
Maria is one tough lady. She, also is a survivor of an abusive husband, but she isn't doing so well. Since the marriage broke up, Maria has turned to alcohol to forget her pains of the past. For the past six years she has been one of the most notorious alcoholics in the area. She told us that she cannot remember how many times she crawled out of the pub that is now the London Outreach Center on her hands and knees, too drunk to walk. She has now come to us for help overcoming alcoholism.
Lilly lives alone. She, also, is elderly and walks slowly with the help of a cane. The other morning she rang the bell at 9:45 a.m. (We open the center at 10:00 a.m.) She was ready for her tea. She enjoys coming to the center.
Please do pray for these and the others who come through our doors. Since we're opened, everyone has been very positive, glad to have a place like this in the area. We want to be a shinning light to this community and this city.
Dirk will be in the Philippines the month of December. He will be visiting the ASEA ministries there and teaching at the Manila Theological Seminary. Thanks for praying for him, also!
God is good!
With love and appreciation,
The Wood Family
