MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR JUNE-JULY 1997

Dear Friends,

We are back in London, but by the time you get this, I will probably be in Honduras. I am looking forward to this opportunity to minister with Missionary Johnny Cruz. He has arranged for me to preach/teach/share two-four times a day, and I will have the pleasure of speaking several times at the National Convention for INSTE. I just hope I can get in a few cartwheels and a little Psycho Drama Evangelism!

We arrived back in London on May 21. Bob and Cozette Thomas had returned to the US an May 15. We cannot say enough about the great job those two did while we were away. Not only did they accomplish much on the building, including the planting of a lovely little garden, they also made much progress in the ministry end of the Center. They had visitors from the US and from South England to join in on the "fun" here at the Center (also known as "work")! We send our love and thanks to all of them. Ray Johnson, God's gift from Southern Missouri, is still with us. He is an all-around construction engineer and has made the completion of the cellar renovation, plus many other "projects" possible.

Our first official group this summer arrived June 7. The night of June 6, we were putting some finishing touches on the cellar (we still have to complete the ceiling and a few other things). The cellar now has two rooms with bunk beds sleeping four in each, a double room, a very small single room, a toilet room, a shower room, and a sitting room. Jack and Sandra Stone arrived May 13 from Lindale, TX. The Stones were with us last summer and were very much in on the ground work of the building renovation. What a blessing they were last year and to think they came back for more work! Jack is also a great do-it-yourselfer and Sandra is great at painting and anything else that needs done.

We also had a lot of help from our daughter, Michelle. A special thanks to Craig, her husband, who ventured back to the Philippines on his own so Michelle could visit and see the London Outreach Center firsthand. What a special blessing it was to have her, it was just so hard to see her go! The Sames arrived back safe and sound, also. God is good.

MARGERITA WAS TROUBLED and dropped in the Center one day while the Thomases were here. She had a massive problem. Her oldest daughter of 19 had accused her of being an alcoholic and an unfit mother for her two younger children. The government had placed the two younger children under their child protection plan. Agency after agency was siding with the older daughter. Dr. Bob confronted her in her problems and counseled her for many days. The local council held a meeting to determine the course of action they would take with the children. Dr. Bob wrote a letter and I went to the meeting which was held after I returned. Both the school nurse and I testified that the children were in good hands with Margerita. A week later the council sent us copies of all the records of the case. The vote was in Margerita's favor and her children were removed from the observation of the government. Thanks to the Thomases' care and counsel of Margerita, the London Outreach Center is now seen by the local government as a competent counseling center for those with difficult problems.

THE WORD OF LIFE GROUP from Greensburg, PA was with us June 7 through 14. Danny and Diane Rogers are the Youth Ministers with that church. The Rogers spent several years serving as missionaries in Mexico. The group consisted of five leaders and seven young people. The young people were very open to the teachings and witnessed everywhere we went. They did mimes and lead sinners to the Lord Jesus Christ! After explaining Psyche Drama Evangelism to them, they saw first-hand the amazing results. Several of them were naturals at it! Danny was one of them. One of his first tries was as we stood overlooking the Tower Bridge on the River Thames, Danny pulled himself up on the railing yelling about how his life wasn't worth living and he was going to jump over to kill himself. He reached and grabbed the back of his shirt, pulling on it and yelling, "Don't do it!" He then proceeded with the Gospel message, was able to stop the suicide attempt and lead himself to the Lord!

Another one of the leaders was Ken Howard. Ken did really well with the "Abigail Toy Phone" ministry. He got on a bus, sat down and began ringing the red and white baby phone. People turned to look toward the ringing then Ken answered the phone and began a dialog with God. "Hello, oh, Father, thank You for sending your Son Jesus Christ to die for my sins." "Tell people on the bus about your Son? ... how much you love them, so much you sent Him to die for our sins, OK." Within one minute a man in back of Ken was angered. "We don't want to hear about Jesus," he shouted, "if I want to hear this I'II go to church." Ken ignored him and stood up, speaking louder into the phone. The man stood up and began to try to convince people on the bus that what Ken was doing was wrong. I yelled in agreement with him, "it's OK to cuss or act like the devil, but this is wrong!" The man agreed with me! "We ought to kill Christians," I shouted. He smiled and came over to shake my hand! As he shook my hand, I looked him right in the eye and said, "Sir, 1 am on my way to hell with you." It was a polite way to tell him he was destined for a burning hell, I thought. It shook him and he realized what he was doing and what I was doing. He began laughing as if to say that he didn't want to go to hell. To our amazement, he turned around, went back to Ken and hugged him! Now that's incredible!

BIBLES, BIBLES AND MORE BIBLES! Jack Stone really blessed us by having 700 Bibles sent over. We have been able to distribute Bibles in some great ways. Jack had a burden for hospital work, so we visited a nearby hospital. It was a tremendous time of ministry. We have gone back and will continue to go. Many people were open and received with thanks a free Bible. Another time Jack, dressed in a white collar, stood up on the underground train. He began to share about how William Tyndale gave his life so that we could have the Bible in English to read for ourselves. He asked the crowd how much the Bible was worth to them. Many people on the train asked for a copy of God's precious Word.

ANGLICAN PRIEST COMES FOR TRAINING! The other day I got a call from a retired Anglican Priest. He said, "I hear you preach on buses, trains and in the market." "Yes, I do," I replied. "Then," he said, "I think I can learn something from you." He asked if he could visit that night. For two hours I talked to him of the importance of Bible reading and street ministry. He said that he wanted to get involved in reaching the lost. This retired priest is 72 years old. I told him of the Psyche Drama Evangelism and the Abigail Toy Phone Ministry. He smiled and said, "I am getting excited, this is what I need." He has come over three times in four days and I have run him through some of our School of Bibliology curriculum. He is getting on fire! I am in the process of writing a pamphlet on Psyche Drama Evangelism. I believe it is a biblical and effective way to reach the lost. If you are interested in it, just let me know!

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH who are making if possible for us to serve God on the mission field. Your love, prayers and support are the basis for our ministry!

With love and appreciation,

The Wood Family
