MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR JUNE 1996
GOD HAS DONE GREAT THINGS!
Thank you for your prayers and sacrificial giving. We are here to wage
a war, not for material spoils, but for the souls of men which are
more precious than gold. In 1620, the Mayflower sailed from this area
of London called Rotherhithe. From here it went to Plymouth and then
to America. On board were people known as Pilgrims, separatists who
held the Bible to be the supreme authority over the Church of England.
The ones from this area could have also been known as Rotherhithes.
America became what it is today because of their respect for the Word
of God. The Pilgrims were looked down upon. Most stayed in the area of
Rotherhithe, London, but that small group got on board the Mayflower
and so the great American story began. The Mayflower later returned to
this area. The former Crystal Tavern lies in the heart of Rotherhithe.
Since we sit on a corner, we have two addresses. One is on Rotherhithe
New Road, the other is on Rotherhithe Old Road. The Pilgrims left over
376 years ago, but generations later we are back and we are still
separatists, we are the new Rotherhithes! We are here to preach
repentance, redemption in Christ, heaven and hell!

HALLELUJAH!
On June 13th, we moved into the Crystal Tavern. The past two weeks
have been eventful, to say the least! The second night we were in the
pub, a man broke in. I met him at the door. The third night a brick
was thrown through a 10 by 10 foot lower window (at 12:30 a.m.).
Insurance paid the bill to replace it ($1600). A few nights later,
around midnight, Steve smelled smoke. He investigated and found a fire
had been started by some drunks in the basement of the building next
door. He was able to extinguish it before it spread to our building.
PEOPLE ARE COMING BY wanting to know when we are going to open.
One man said his wife left him and he needs encouragement. A doctor
whose clinic is across the street happens to be a Christian from
India. He was thrilled to hear this pub will now be a mission. We are
believing God to use The London Outreach Center to make a differencc
in this community! A few days after we moved in, Steven Same noticed
an old newspaper while cleaning. It was folded to the article below,
which Steven read. The article had a few mistakes. First, the pub is
about 100 years old according to council documents. Second, we will
definitely be worshipping in the building! The former "CRYST AL"
Tavern is now the "CHRIST ALL" Tavern. Somebody shout!
AS OF WRITING THIS, we are occupying the third floor where the
bedrooms are. The second floor is still under construction! The
kitchen is in, but painting and carpeting are still in progress. God
has really blessed in so many ways. We are hosting our second group
already! We do hope many of you can come visit one day and see what
God has done. It's a miracle!
