MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER 1996

Praise God for His great love which He expressed in sending His Son. He died to reconcile us to God.
We are family now, brothers and sisters in this family, the family of God. In these days which we are living, heading into the 21st century, one object stands paramount—the Great Commission. Yet many faithful Christians do not see the need. It is not finished until the Lord cries a second time, “It is finished!” The first time was from the cross when He had done and completed the will of God. The second time He cries it will ring from heaven and when we, His church, have finished the will of God. Many satanic voices will say, “It is finished,” to inspire us to stop the Gospel work. We will know the Lord’s voice because it will be accompanied by the sound of a trumpet...then it will be finished. I hope that when it sounds we are not sitting around unconcerned about the souls of men, detached, unemotional, indifferent—only singing about it!

HYDE PARK CLOSES —He had been preaching his Islamic rubbish when he decided to attack a Christian, stabbing him with a knife. He was was caught, but no knife was found until closer observation discovered the pen in his pocket housed a small knife. For the first time in 124 years, Hyde Park was shut down.

IRAQI MISSIONARY—He was spitting hell fire and brimstone against America, laughing as he said, “We are fighting America on their own soil, we are killing people at the Olympics.” I asked him, “If you are so down on America, then why are you preaching off a Black and Decker ladder?” When I began preaching he burst into the meeting, waving a belt over his head and cussing America. He was acting as if he would use that belt against me when the police came and took him away.

NIGHT OF TERROR—After praying, I stepped up on the pulpit-ladder and began preaching on wisdom. I may not have any, but I can preach on it! A nice, healthy crowd gathered and I accepted and answered a few questions. Then a man came up trying to convince the crowd that he was in fact a demon spirit. I said, “No, you are not a demon, but no doubt you are possessed by a demon.” To that he responded with wild vulgar motions, “My name is Satan.” I said, “You are not Satan, your name is Bozo.” The crowd liked the name and Bozo was humbled. As I began preaching the resurrection and Christ the only way, many in the crowd became angry. People want to believe there is more than one way to God. “Any Christians in the crowd?” I always ask. One man began to accuse me of many things so I asked a Christian woman to judge if the man’s observations were correct. She responded, “No, he is way off.” After a few minutes, a demon possessed man appeared cursing and acting like he had come right out of hell. At that point I decided to get down and go one on one because many were interested. The man got upon the ladder and began cussing God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus. I was so grieved, I went and grabbed the ladder and said, "Get down, I'm going home." He bent over so close all I could see was his teeth and throat as he cursed me. The Scripture came to mind, "And they gnashed upon him with their teeth." As I walked to another area, a young man approached me who had been in the previous location. He said, "My name is Scott, I came from a good family, but I have dropped out of college and I know something is missing in my life." He was open and hungry for God and he was in his right mind. God knows how to encourage his preachers. Pray for Scott. He knows he needs his life transformed. Praise God!

BUILDING UPDATE: we finished painting the outside just in time. Wet weather moved in the day after. We praise God that He protected all of us while we climbed high on scaffold to paint. One section had what they call "rolling scaffold" that reached over 45 feet into the air. It had to be tied to the building. with ropes through the windows. The scaffold swayed with the slightest movement. We hired a sign painter to paint LONDON OUTREACH CENTER on the very top. He wasn't too happy about climbing up on the scaffold, but he did it. It was an exciting moment when he finished and the building got its official name. We have also done some research and determined the current building was built in 1895. A previous building must have been replaced because we know the pub has been here much longer than that. We also made a slight change to the former hanging sign which has a nice picture of a "crystal city" (looking much like heaven) and bore the name CRYSTAL TAVERN. Now the word {formerly has been added directly above CRYSTAL TAVERN and at the top of the sign it reads CHRIST ALL TAVERN! Yee haaa! Somebody shout!

We will be visiting the US next April and May. If you would like us to visit you, please let us know as soon as possible. Thanks!

With love and appreciation, The Wood Family
