A Blue, Blue Tele

Here is another beauty from Don DiMasi. As Don describes his Tele;

This blue Tele-style started out as a body and neck from Warmoth. The body was stained with a blue water soluble dye from ReRanch. The dye was applied with a terrycloth rag.
After it dried, it was sanded with a 360 grit to remove the raised grain, and re-stained.

The next step was a lacquer sanding sealer. After the first coats, the blue dye bled onto the bindings, so it was necessary to scrape them clean. After another coat of sanding sealer, it was fine sanded with 600 grit wet or dry.
Next were the clear nitro coats. Several coats were applied, with a couple of hours to dry between coats. After drying for a couple of days, I sanded with 1000 grit, and shot the last 3 coats with the nitro thinned to equal parts lacquer and thinner.
Then, I waited 4 days. After sanding with 1500 grit, and then 2000, I used MacGuiar’s #2 (fine cut cleaner) to buff, using a foam buffing pad. Finally,
a quick buff with MacGuiars’s #9 (swirl remover) finished it up. Finally, gold hardware and Anderson pickups were added. I’m thrilled with the results!

Thanks again ReRanch for all your help!
