If the ding is extremely minor, you can fill it in with multiple layers of clearcoat. spray, dry, sand level, spray, dry, sand level...on and on. But even though the finish will look smooth and level, the fill in will tend to magnify the imperfection. If it were me, since I only just started and only two coats in, I would srtip the area and do a proper repair, then do a spot blend with the paint, Black is very forgiving when matching and blending. If you don't have the talent to do a blend job, strip the entire body and start fresh. It's you baby, your pride and joy..isn't it worth the extra time and effort? I'm sure you would't let it happen again!!!!

Orig msg: Ok...Need some more help here. I am in the first stage of painting. Did the first coats (2) of black lacquer and dinged the guitar! I am doing a natural binding so, of course, the ding is right on the side where paint meet binding. Anyone have any advice? Went to STEWMAC site (Trade Secrets) and it says to drop-fill with clear lacquer. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
