Another finish job from a first time guitar refinisher, Fred Miles. Fred's 1963 P Bass was refinished in white and was in pretty bad shape. It begged for a refinish. He stripped the guitar but found that there was still white paint lodged in the grain. Rather than trying to sand out the stain and run the risk of reshaping the body Fred tried several types of wood bleach with minimal results. He then tried the Parks brand "AB" bleach which can be found at Home Depot stores. Finally; success. The bleach removed all the stain and gave Fred a clean canvas to work with. The colors are aniline dye colors (primarily; medium brown, amber and a small amount of red applied with an air brush). Fred sprayed the colors to replicate the mid sixties three color burst. After the colors were correct twenty coats of clear nitrocellulose lacquer were applied. It was final polished with Bee's wax with orange oil. That's a new one to me Fred but I can't argue with the outcome. Thanks for the pic....
