Sorry Folks - I am currently living in Chennai,
India while I do some engineering work for Cairn Energy on a deepwater oil and
gas drilling project. Just like most other guides these days, I do
"other" work in addition to guiding. Doing deepwater drilling
engineering work is the "other" half of my life and these days i'm
pretty damn busy so it is taking up most of my available time. I am expected to
be out of the country until around May of 2001. So we will not do any trips
until I return. I am doing some local climbing here, and I'll try to post
some images within the next few weeks, so please check back and have a look!
I'll still check my email while I'm away. Thanks - Chuck Lohn
PS - If you want to contact me by mail, you can
write to: Chuck Lohn, 3-E, Cambrae Hall, 27 Victoria Crescent Road, 3rd Floor,
Egmore, Chennai - 600008 INDIA. I'll have some good campfire stories when I get
back!

Both Mt. Cayambe and Cotopaxi are heavily glaciated peaks with superb ice
formations. It's been said that they both look like Mount Rainier....on
steroids. For the Ecuador trip, we will fly into the capital city of Quito,
Ecuador which is located at an elevation of 10,000 feet. Then we will travel to
Mt. Cayambe where we will do some glacier school work and acclimatize to an
elevation of 15,000 feet before making our summit bid. After Cayambe, we will
travel to the town of Banos where we will recoup for a few days in the local
hot springs, and do some horseback riding along some rain forest jungle trails.
We will then travel to Mt. Cotopaxi where we will finish the trip with a summit
attempt on the world's highest active volcano. Massive ice formationa line the
route. All clients will be screened for proper experience before being accepted
on the trip. Cost: $2500.00. Please read the

Sell the Lexus and see the world. Vinson is the tallest mountain on the
continent
of Antarctica, with a summit elevation of just over 16,000 feet. The biggest
challenge
of doing this peak is working out the logistics of just getting there! For our
trip, we
will travel to the southern most tip of Argentina where we will board an air
force C-130
transport plane for the ride to the bottom of the Earth. Then we will catch an
Otter
aircraft for the ride to base camp. This will be a once in a lifetime climb.
Approximate
travel time is 3 weeks.
Cost will be: $21,000.00. Please read the
message above.

cold in Texas. We will fly into Durango early Thursday morning, and climb
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday before heading home late Sunday evening.
We'll hit ice climbing designations in Durango, Telluride and Ouray while we're
there, and then we'll head back to Dallas late Sunday night. We have special
flight arrangements, so please call for details. No Experience is Necessary!
All ice tools are provided. Cost is $395.00 which includes instruction
and hotels. Dates are in January and February. Please

| Step into the third world while staying a comfortable distance to the
Texas border. The Portrero Chico area has become well known as an incredible
location with limestone walls that tower to over 2000 feet in height. If you
climb 5.9, then this is an excellent location for climbing day routes that may
be as tall as seven or eight pitches in length. Easy access to Monterey also
allows us to eat some familiar food without running any risks of getting
Montezuma's revenge. Four days for $500.00. Please
read the message above. |

Hangdog now has a commercial guiding permit for Hueco Tanks state park.
Hueco Tanks is widely known as one of the best
sport climbing areas in North America. What makes the Tanks so unique is a rare
type of rock which is riddled with large holes called "huecos" which
form swiss cheese jug holds up dead vertical walls. IT'S A BLAST! If we were to
claim a sport area of choice, it would be Hueco Tanks. As usual, each guide
will climb with two or three clients, and each rope team will be "ability
grouped" so that clients can pick either easy or harder routes to climb.
Please read the message above.
Please read the message above.
