Some thirty years ago, I was experiencing frequent dizzy spells accompanied by extreme weakness. I spent several years going from doctor to doctor - heart specialists, psychiatrists, internists, etc. - to try and find out what was wrong. They could not find an explanation so I was told it was “just my nerves”. Librium (a form of Valium) was prescribed for me, which made me too groggy to function. I had three children to care for and a household to manage. This was not getting to the cause of my problem. One day on television, I heard Dr. Carleton Fredericks mention hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and that a glucose tolerance test was the way to diagnose it. The symptoms sounded like what I was experiencing, so I had the test. The test had to be stopped in the third hour. My blood sugar had dropped to 67, but I was told that was in the normal range. That is when I began searching for answers to my health problems. In the nutritionist, Adele Davis’, book, Let's Get Well , I read that the blood sugar should remain between 90-100. From that moment, I began to modify my eating habits to greatly limit sugar intake and to include healthy foods, herbs, vitamins and nutritional supplements in my diet. My health improved and has remained excellent since I made these changes. I avidly began studying nutrition. My goal became to help other people find a healthy life-style and have a high quality of life.
A friend introduced me to Nature’s Sunshine Products. I began taking their products with good results. The more I learned about the company, the more I was impressed with their integrity and the quality of their products. At this time in my life I decided to go back to work. The job market had little to offer a middle-aged homemaker - minimum wage pay, at best. I decided to become a Nature’s Sunshine Independent Distributor. Their business plan sounded like a good opportunity. I started out with just a few extra bottles of their products Now, after being an NSP Independent Distributor for twenty-two years, I have yet to find a company with better quality products and a more sound business plan. Deciding to take this path has been a most rewarding choice. It has enabled me to help others and at the same time provide financial security for myself.
