What is a Podcast?

- Podcasts began as radio broadcasts over the internet.
- Each episode is available for a specified amount of
time and the moved to an archive.
- Episodes are typically downloaded to portable media
devices such as Ipods.
- Video Podcast known as vodcasts are now becoming more
prevalent.
What are the benefits?
- Useful in the classroom for lectures and distance
learning
- Bible studies and devotional
- Outreach and remote group worship
- Can be used to promote church and school
- Getting the Word out.
What resources are needed?
- high speed internet connection
- itunes or other aggregator software
- computer and optional portable device that can
play mp3 files

- a plan and a commitment to maintain and update as
needed
- good audio equipment (do not skimp this is the
part, the quality of the recording is at this point)
- an available ftp site and web site
- software for editing and feed creation
- someone who understands html, xml, and rss and can
