CLASS "A" WOMEN'S SOFTBALL TEAM

MOB HISTORY

The MOB was this wild-haired idea that I had five years ago to play more competitive softball than I was currently playing in various city recreational leagues.  My original intent was to put together a "good" Class C team with a group of women that had a mutual love and appreciation for the game.  Playing in various leagues and tournaments gave me exposure to a large number of female softball players in which to recruit for the team.

I've always lived by the motto that "Attitude is Everything" and I adopted this same philosophy in my dealings with the softball team.  We have had our successes and failures along the way.  To date, of the original mobsters that were on the inaugural team, four still remain.  The complement of women that have been added, have developed the best on the field- off the field chemistry that  I have ever experienced.  The level of commitment to practice and game participation is outstanding as well.

I secured sponsorship to help cover costs associated with tournament fees, equipment, and travel expenses.  This has worked out well during the course of the season as it lessens the financial burden on the players, allowing them to better focus on playing the game.  Overall, this has been one hell of a ride and I plan to continue this tradition as long as "attitude" permits.

Trivia:  Do you have any idea as to what the letters MOB stand for?  E-mail me with your responses.
