The International Association of Administrative Professionals

*Albuquerque Chapter*

Our Mission is to be the acknowledged leader of all administrative professionals in New Mexico by offering opportunities for education, leadership skills, networking and mentoring through the active involvement of all members.

Through monthly chapter meetings, members are afforded opportunities to sharpen their presentation skills. From reporting on committee activities to presiding at meetings as the chapter president, members continually improve their presentation skills in front of groups of people. These skills are essential to the success of today's office professionals and are expected by most employers. Experience gained in and through chapter activities is invaluable to successful presentations.

The chapter was formed in June 1946 as part of the National Secretaries Association, which became Professional Secretaries International in 1981. The tagline, "The Association for Office Professionals," was added in 1995 to better reflect the changes in our profession.

To reflect the broader range of job titles and expanded responsibilities held by today's administrative support staff, the association's name was changed to the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) in August 1998.

This statement demonstrates that IAAP can provide resources, information, education and, most importantly, networking opportunities that help turn jobs into careers.
